FAQ

Forestry Mulching, Answered

What exactly is forestry mulching?

It's a land-clearing method where a machine grinds standing brush, vines, saplings, and small trees right where they stand, turning the overgrowth into a layer of natural mulch that stays on the ground. One pass does the cutting, grinding, and spreading at once — no burning, no piles of debris. As that mulch breaks down, it helps hold the soil in place and feed it back.

Do you handle small backyards, or only large acreage?

Both. We take on everything from a single overgrown residential backyard to multi-acre wooded tracts. A choked-up quarter-acre yard gets the same care as a fifty-acre clearing — if the land's been swallowed by brush, vines, or saplings, we can bring it back.

What determines the price of a job?

Every property is different, so there's no flat rate — and honestly, we can't give you a real number until we've walked it. What moves the price is how overgrown the area is, the terrain (slope, wet spots, rocky ground), how easily we can get equipment in, and what's actually inside the space we're clearing. Smaller jobs aren't automatically cheap, either — getting the right machine on-site carries real cost no matter the size. The upside: because we process the growth into mulch on-site instead of hauling it off, you're not paying for dump trips or debris removal. We'll come out, look at your property, and give you an honest quote for free.

Do you haul everything away, or is there a mess afterward?

The brush and small trees don't get hauled off — they get ground into mulch that stays on the ground as a clean, natural layer. That means no burn piles, no debris trailers, no dump fees. Before we leave, our crew finishes the space — blowing, raking, and trimming things up — so what was a tangled, overtaken mess becomes open, natural ground you can walk, mow, and actually use again.

How big a tree can you mulch?

Our mulching heads handle trees up to roughly 8 inches across in a single pass. Anything bigger, we drop it first and then mulch — so larger trees aren't a dealbreaker, just a different approach.

How is this different from bush hogging?

A bush hog is really built for tall grass and light brush, and it leaves rough, chopped-up material behind. Forestry mulching goes further — it takes on woody brush, saplings, and small trees and grinds them into a fine, even mulch. You end up with a finished, manageable space instead of a rough cut that grows back fast.

What areas do you serve?

We're based in Charlotte and cover the greater metro — Concord, Gastonia, Huntersville, Mooresville, Statesville, Salisbury, Monroe, and Albemarle — plus Fort Mill and the Lake Wylie area in South Carolina. We've also expanded into the Triad: Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, Lexington, and Thomasville. Not sure if you're in range? Give us a call at 980.580.8655.
